Zhoey came to us from an owner who had no idea how to help her. When she went to her foster home, the skin on her belly was like leather. Her issue was allergies. They caused itching so bad that she was missing fur. She had never been socialized with other dogs, but she quickly learned that her four-legged foster brothers could protect her and teach her. They taught her that the vacuum wasn’t so scary and that the dogs she encountered on her walks weren’t all so bad.
Zhoey has come a long way too with her allergies. She is on a special diet and taking medication, but now her fur is the softest and shiniest, with no more bald patches. She is a beauty. She gets regular baths and never gives her foster a hard time. She loves to prance around after every bath letting her foster brothers know she smells oh so much better than they do. Maybe they can be next.
Did we say that Zhoey’s come a long way? Oh, yes. Her buddies taught her that it was okay to be in the big world and that it is fun to play, and that is what she loves to do. Zhoey is a super high-energy dog that loves to run and play with her dog friends. She can do laps through the gardens, around the fruit trees, as fast as the fastest. She can wear the fastest out, but when they’re done, she will happily move on to her next friend. She also loves and very much respects her 11-year-old “mama dog” and mentor. She loves to follow her around, probably learning new things with every step of the way.
Like some dogs who have gone through their own issues, Zhoey is very empathic to those around her. She looks into your eyes with those beautiful sweet brown eyes like she knows that you are in pain and would gladly lay her head down on your knee just to be able to could help you like she was helped before. Zhoey is a special girl who can make you laugh when you need it, give you a wet sloppy kiss when you need it, and just be by your side when you need it.
If Zhoey could make her dream list for her future home, it would, of course, include a family that will take care of her forever, but also she would love some four-legged canine friends to play with. After all, not many humans can keep up with her puppy energy. She would love a big yard to run and play with her friends in too, and if there are lizards and squirrels, oh, that would be so much fun. She’ll make sure she keeps your garden safe from them.
