Nova and her partner, Dante, joined the rescue in December. She would have loved to have been adopted right away, but unfortunately, she was pregnant. We had been told by the person who turned her and Dante in to the rescue that she was pregnant, but we had no idea how long it would be before they were born.
Lucky for Nova, there was a foster home waiting for her, a place for her to rest and feel safe while she waited to give birth. When she went home, it was clear right away she had never been inside a house, never walked on a leash, and never slept on anything soft. But it didn’t take her long to feel right at home, living as part of her new foster family. She learned how wonderful living indoors is, how peaceful she could sleep on a soft bed, and how nice it was to walk through a neighborhood on a leash meeting all the neighbors. Thanks to her loving foster, Nova is now house trained, walks beautifully on leash and is also crate trained. She loves to have her bed inside of her crate.
Nova also learned the joy of having real toys. They haven’t made a soft toy that will withstand her teeth, but she loves marrow bones, Kong toys, and all those indestructible ones. She loves to have balls thrown for her, and she will gladly bring them back. She has a great appetite and loves treats. She has not done any resource guarding and easily gives up her stuff if asked. She gets along very well with male dogs. We haven’t had the opportunity to introduce her to another female dog yet. Nova loves people. She is a calm girl who can easily entertain herself if you’re busy doing something, and would gladly limit her walks to just once a day if that’s all you can do, and be happy with a game of ball toss to burn energy too. She absolutely loves to play chase with her dog friends.
Nova also loves to howl with sirens, snuggle up close for belly rubs, and once she trusts you she gives you unmovable devotion. She is sweet but German Shepherd tough, easy going but determined. She loves to lay at your feet or outside in the sun if you’re working in the garden. Nova has big beautiful brown eyes that melt your heart as they give you a glimpse into her soul. She is looking for her home with someone she can spend all her time being their best friend. If there is someone looking for a bonded pair, she would love to be reunited with her partner Dante.
