Are you a white German Shepherd enthusiast? Have you met Cooper?

Cooper was rescued from a shelter in Fresno, along with his partner and a 6 month old puppy. A few weeks earlier the entire family was left at the shelter, all 3 were sick and scared and trying hard to understand what they had done wrong. After a short stay at a veterinary hospital to treat for kennel cough and other common diseases of neglect, Cooper and his family were ready for adoption.

His partner and puppy found wonderful homes right away, but Cooper was too scared and depressed, and for a couple weeks he did not show well in adoption events. Luckily he was invited to join one of our foster homes where he had the attention and gentle care he needed to recover and develop confidence to be the wonderful dog that he is.

Cooper is a typical white German Shepherd! He is handsome, smart, curious, and very affectionate. He is also very strong and at times he can be stubborn. He has excellent house manners and adapted well to the family routine. His favorite pastime is fetching balls in the back yard and his level of energy is quite moderate. Cooper is dog friendly. He is respectful with the senior dogs in his foster home, and playful with the young ones. He gets along with both male and female dogs.

Cooper appreciates the humans who take care of him, and can be overprotective if not socialized. When adopted, his new family will need to keep working on his socialization. He is eager to please his handlers and will benefit from professional training.

His ideal home would have other dogs and he absolutely needs experienced handlers. Because of his tendency to overprotect his family we do not recommend him for a home with children.

If you are interested in meeting this dog, please fill out our online application first.  Contact us via email at information@coastalgsrsd.org.  The minimum adoption donation ranges from $300 to $400. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible. Prior to placement, all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are usually microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis. Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
