Every Saturday we have an adoption event in either San Marcos or Encinitas and we need volunteers to help set up for the event and to walk the dogs. If you are at least eighteen years of age, physically able to handle large and enthusiastic dogs, reliable and motivated to help our precious dogs while they wait for their foster or forever homes, we need you! We will teach you everything you need to know!
From time to time we also do special events. So if you’re not able to volunteer on Saturdays, or if you live too far from the Encinitas / San Marcos area, add your name to our mailing list and keep an eye on the events calendar. We may be coming to your neighborhood soon!
Dog walkers help our dogs stay physically and mentally healthy by giving them lots of exercise and helping them to become properly socialized. Many of our dogs are in boarding facilities in San Marcos and Encinitas locations. If you have time during the week, we’d love to have you! Maybe you are available only on the weekend and cannot walk dogs during the week. Consider joining us at our weekly adoption events. Read more above.
If you do not want to walk dogs, we also need dog companions who will just hang out with our dogs at one of our boarding facilities. Bring a book and just settle down for some quiet time with one of our sweet dogs. Just petting a dog or grooming a dog is great fun for both of you.
Perhaps you would eventually like to have a dog in your home but now is not the time to adopt a dog. You could provide a safe haven full of love and care for one of our dogs who is waiting for a forever home.
FUND RAISING / SPECIAL EVENTS / TRANSPORTING DOGS
Rescue is funded solely by adoption fees, private donations and fundraising activities. When we participate in a community event or if we organize and hold our own event, we need you! The activities are many. Are you a natural salesperson? You can sell tickets, distribute flyers, solicit raffle items, staff a special event, or help to organize an event.
Our dogs love to go for long walks but it’s very long walk from the boarding kennels to our adoption events or to a community event. That’s why we need volunteers who can transport dogs in their personal vehicles. If you like to drive and would like a handsome German Shepherd Dog or two as a traveling companion, you are invited to our transport team.
